Year 2 Ready

 

It has been a very long time (okay, a very, very long time) since I last posted on my blog.  It was such a busy spring and summer around here that blogging took a back seat to other needs.  And honestly I think I just needed a break from the report outs.  However, I'm happy to say...my mojo is back!

It really does feel good to be back as part of APS and as head of The Student Services Department.  Make that the fabulous Student Services Department.  We have some new faces on board as I return for Year 2, many returning faces as well, and we are all pumped about the great beginning we've had so far since Day One!

We are rockin' and rollin' with our PBS work and I hope to detail much about what we've put into place (not just PBS!) and where we are headed this year.  SEL and PBIS trainings are at full steam ahead, Restorative Justice is coming on as an initial pilot in several schools (working on the details!), plus we are laying the groundwork to be a No Place for Hate School District - we have plans for ALL schools to celebrate inclusion and diversity through special weeks of activities and we hope each can then proudly hang those NPFH banners at the end of the year.  Wouldn't that be something special?

Just to get us started, check out our Meet 'n Greet gathering last Friday morning at the CLL.  We took some time to put names to new faces, shared a bit of breakfast, then got right back to it as there is much to do.  I'm incredibly thankful for the great people I work with on a daily basis and can honestly say we are excited to see our planning take off this year.  It was an incredible lift, but so worth it. Onward and Upward to a FY16 year full of promise and "good stuff" for our kids and staff, our families, and our community.
